Michael Copley has practised at the Private Bar since July 2011. Prior to that, he had been a Crown Prosecutor with the Queensland Director of Public Prosecution’s office since January 1992.

Mr Copley was appointed Senior Counsel in 2008. In 2013 that designation was changed to Queen’s Counsel and in 2022 to King’s Counsel.

Mr Copley largely practises in the area of criminal law, both at trial and appellate level. He has conducted numerous appeals in the Court of Appeal and in the High Court.
