Overview

Tom Pincus came to the Bar in Queensland in March 2009, after substantial experience in litigation from 1998 as an articled clerk, Associate to a judge of the Federal Court, and then commercial litigation solicitor at prominent firms in Melbourne and London.

Tom has a broad practice, focusing primarily on commercial disputes but also including corporate and professional (particularly for solicitors) regulatory matters, judicial review and some (mostly ‘white collar’) criminal defence work. He has appeared in State and Commonwealth courts at all levels, including frequently – both led and alone – in the Queensland Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and also in: the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal; the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission; Australian Securities and Investments Commission hearings; the New South Wales Supreme Court; and the Full Federal Court and High Court of Australia. He was junior counsel assisting the Queensland Racing Commission of Inquiry in 2013, subsequently appeared in the Commonwealth’s Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and was engaged for the State in relation to aspects of the Queensland Organised Crime Commission of Inquiry
