Overview

Eleanor was called to the Bar in 2022. She has a broad public law practice, appearing as counsel across criminal, regulatory, administrative and native title matters. Her work spans prosecutions and defence, coronial inquests, disciplinary proceedings and native title proceedings together with advisory work across a broad range of government and private matters, including regulatory investigations and law enforcement. Eleanor has particular experience in inquiries, including appearing as counsel assisting in the Board of Inquiry into the Criminal Justice System in the Australian Capital Territory in 2023.

Eleanor’s practice draws on a varied path to the Bar. She was a senior legal officer with the Commission of Inquiry into Forensic DNA Testing in Queensland, and practised as a solicitor in criminal and regulatory law at Gilshenan & Luton, acting for both government departments and private individuals in criminal defence, professional misconduct, white collar crime, work health and safety, and regulatory prosecution matters. Earlier still, she was a policy officer at the Department of Premier and Cabinet and a Judge’s Associate at the District Court of Queensland.
