Louise is a barrister who appears regularly in the Federal Court of Australia (including the Full Federal Court), the Supreme Court of Queensland and specialist tribunals. Her practice encompasses complex litigation and advisory work for governments, Native Title Representative Bodies, Registered Native Title Bodies Corporate, Traditional Owners, mining companies, landholders, corporations and not-for-profit organisations. She is frequently briefed as junior counsel in significant, sensitive and novel matters involving contested native title claims and compensation proceedings, judicial review, regulatory enforcement, shareholder disputes and charitable trust administration.
She also has substantial experience in public and regulatory law, including acting for government departments in judicial review proceedings raising complex questions of statutory interpretation and administrative power. She has advised on environmental, planning and resources legislation, appeared in regulatory and enforcement proceedings, and acted for the Attorney-General in matters concerning the administration of charitable trusts.
Louise is a University Medallist in Law from the Queensland University of Technology and holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in French and Spanish from the University of Queensland. She is a member of the Indigenous Affairs Committee of the Queensland Bar Association and is also admitted to practice in New York, United States.
